Empanada Dough Recipe


2 cups All Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 cup Vegetable Shortening
1/4 cup water

In a large bowl sift in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add in the vegetable shortening, and break the shortening into the flour with your hands, until it becomes a mealy texture. Then Slowly mix in the water into the mealy dough mixture. Work the dough with your hand until it becomes smooth, form into a ball, wrap it in plastic and let it rest for at least 30 minutes before making empanadas.
